Quality in Emergency Care Committee Rep

Silas is an ST5 Emergency Medicine trainee in South London and the new EMTA representative on the Quality in Emergency Care Committee.
He has particular interests in ultrasound and critical care, and enjoys finding practical ways to improve patient care and the working lives of clinicians. His current quality improvement project focuses on improving access to ultrasound-guided regional anaesthesia in the ED through education, governance and service development.
Following his core training, he undertook a postgraduate trauma fellowship in South Africa and spent year in the Northern Territory of Australia working as an Emergency Medicine and Aeromedical Retrieval Registrar. These experiences reinforced his interest in systems of care, teamwork and delivering high-quality EM in challenging environments. Alongside his NHS role, he also works in event and crowd medicine at major sporting events, including Wembley Stadium and the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, which offer a unique perspective on emergency care in large-scale public settings.
